SQLMatcher 2.3.6 Released
Following the success of earlier SQLMatcher releases, Berryware is proud to
announce SQLMatcher 2.3.6 Professional! SQLMatcher is a schema comparison
and synchronization tool that supports Microsoft's SQL Server.
Although SQLMatcher 2.3.6 has a minor version increment it is a fairly significant
release in one respect: it is now possible to use SQLMatcher to compare scripts that
contain ALTER statements that may even drop tables, columns etc. This allows for new
customer use cases that involve comparison of change scripts that are built up over
time.
One example of a new use case is when SQLMatcher is used during development.
Developers often create entities in a database with a certain structure and then
later decide that the column data types should change or the table should be
renamed or any other changes. To support the development process a set of change
scripts is often combined into a full script that is executed against a prior
release version to upgrade it to the new version. During development this script
may be re-generated and it may be necessary to compare these scripts. Previously,
SQLMatcher 2.3.6 couldn't deal with this scenario.
